The recycling program is the same for each resident across Antigonish and Guysborough Counties. This is because all recycling collected through the program is delivered to the Colchester Material Recovery Facility in Kemptown, Nova Scotia. The Colchester Facility has two conveyor belts, one to sort blue bag 1 paper products and the other to sort blue bag 2 containers and other recyclables. People stand along the conveyor belts to sort the plastic containers from the glass jars, metal food cans, etc. It is fast pace and therefore very important that your recycling is sorted properly and clean. Slowing the line to remove contamination costs money. So everyone needs to do their part.
